Instagram Notes: What You Need To Know
An exciting new addition to Instagram, Instagram Notes, has people talking.
While some users find it entertaining, others wonder how relevant it will be to their social strategy. With Instagram Notes, people can post short updates, announcements, or recommendations that only show up in the app's Inbox.
Are Notes the modern incarnation of MSN status?
The introduction of the Instagram Notes feature makes sense in light of Instagram's plans for 2022. The app is concentrating on chat as well as video (particularly Reels), and it launched a series of new messaging capabilities early this year.
"Messaging is the primary way people connect online." says Instagram Head, Adam Mosseri. Will Instagram Notes, on the other hand, generate increased engagement and conversations in the DMs? Will people prefer the more text-based content format of Twitter?
We're intrigued to see how this feature pans out.
Here's all we know about Instagram Notes, including how to make one.
What Are Instagram Notes?
Instagram Notes let you post short notes (similar to Post-its) to your “Close Friends” list or to followers you follow back.
Instagram Notes can be found in your Inbox right above your direct messages.
You can send short notes (like Post-its) to your "Close Friends" list or to people you follow back on Instagram. You can find Instagram Notes right above your direct messages in your Inbox.
Notes only last for 24 hours and can only have up to 60 characters. Users can send a direct message in response to a note.
How to Use Instagram Notes
You will see a new Notes section at the top of your Instagram Inbox. This is where you'll see any Notes that your followers (people you follow) have made. For a new note, press the "+" sign. Type in your message, select who you want to share it with, and press Share.
Users won't be notified when Notes are added, but they can see them in the app for 24 hours. When you tap on a note, a message will pop up asking you to send a DM.
NOTE: Please be patient if you haven't been able to access Instagram Notes just yet. It is still in the process of being made available to users throughout the app.
What do you think of the new Notes feature, then? Will you try it out?
